SiCoLab is hosting a series of street fairs that will take place each
Saturday in August on the stretch of Van Duzer Street in front of The Cup
(local coffee shop and performance space.) In an effort to promote cycling,
recycling and a petition to expand bike lanes throughout Staten Island, I am
curating a mixed-media installation of bike wheels fashioned out of recycled
materials entitled "WE-CYCLE." You are invited to participate by making your
own wheel.

The only stipulations for contributions are that A) they be made
from mainly pre-used non-perishable materials (bottles, bottle caps,
clothing, print media, electronics, boxes, knickknacks, etc.) and B) they
not exceed 34 inches in diameter or 3 square feet C) wheels must weigh less than 20 pounds.

If you are interested in being a part of this project, please
contact Bridgette Francis:

In the meantime, start collecting materials and making your
submission. Remember you don't need to be an "artist" to craft wheels out
of every day objects - they're just circles with some spokes running through
them.

Finished pieces must be submitted no later than July 18th. A
pick up or drop off of finished wheels will be arranged at your convenience.
